Knowledge Base
Your AI Chat Agent answers from a knowledge base built from your website. The Knowledge tab shows what is indexed and gives you several ways to shape it: refreshing your content, adding custom knowledge, uploading files, pinning facts, and steering which website pages we include in your agent's knowledge.
What you'll see
At the top of the tab, stats summarize the current state:
- Pages indexed. How many of your pages are in the knowledge base. Your plan sets the ceiling: 50 on Starter, 150 on Growth, 500 on Pro. When a site has more pages than that, we read the most-linked pages first, so the pages your own site points at most are the ones your agent learns.
- Chunks. Content segments your agent can search across, shown as used against your plan's limit: 500 on Starter, 1,000 on Growth, 5,000 on Pro.
- Last read. How long ago we last read your site.
Rescraping
We read your site automatically when your agent was provisioned. When you change your website (new pages, updated copy or pricing), rescrape so the agent reflects it.
Manual rescrape
Click Trigger Rescrape Now. The tab shows how many you have left and updates the stats when the refresh completes.
- Limit: 3 manual full-site refreshes. Your allowance resets 30 days after your most recent one. The button shows your remaining count.
- The dashboard spaces manual refreshes 24 hours apart, so an accidental double-click cannot spend two of your three. If you ran one recently, the button shows when the next is available. Changed one page? A single-URL refresh does not touch this budget.
Automatic rescraping
Turn on Automatically rescrape on a schedule to keep content fresh without manual effort:
- Monthly. Available on all plans.
- Weekly. Available on the Growth and Pro plans.
- Daily. Available on the Pro plan.
Custom knowledge
Beyond the pages we read from your site, you can add content the agent should know. Paste it directly or upload a file. Open Custom knowledge on the Knowledge tab, give the entry a title, and add the content (up to 200,000 characters per entry).
Uploading files
You can upload a PDF, .txt, or .md file (up to 20 MB). We extract the text into your knowledge base and discard the file. It isn't stored and can't be re-downloaded from the dashboard.
Always-include facts
Some things should be in every answer when relevant: a phone number, an address, a return policy, a critical disclaimer. Add these as always-include facts:
- Up to 10 facts per site, 500 characters each.
- The cap is deliberate. Every fact is sent with every question, so a long list crowds out the passages retrieved from your pages and makes answers worse. Ten is enough for the details that must never be missed.
Unlike content read from your pages (which is retrieved only when it matches a question), facts are always available to the agent, so it never misses your most important details.
Single-URL refresh
Changed just one page? Use Refresh URL to rescrape a single page without spending a full manual rescrape. Starter includes 30 single-URL refreshes per cycle, Growth 100, and Pro 500. A single-page refresh is one cheap fetch instead of a full pass over your site, which is why the allowance is much larger than the manual full-site refresh limit. The tab shows how many you have used, and the allowance resets 30 days after your most recent refresh.
Knowledge Refresh Configuration
Steer which pages we include under Knowledge Refresh Configuration:
- Priority URLs. Pages to always include. These must be on your own site (off-site URLs are rejected) and apply on your next rescrape.
- Excluded paths. Paths to skip (must start with
/).
Knowledge is domain-constrained: the agent only ever learns from your own site plus the custom content and files you provide. It never reads arbitrary external pages.
Test your agent
The Knowledge tab includes a Test your AI Chat Agent box. Ask a question and see the answer, plus the knowledge passages it retrieved (with similarity scores) so you can tell why it answered the way it did. Test messages don't count toward your conversation usage and never reach your escalation contact.
Snapshot history & diff
Every pass over your site saves a snapshot. The history table shows:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Version | Sequential version (v1, v2, v3…) |
| Date | When the refresh ran |
| Triggered by | Initial, Manual, or Scheduled |
| Pages | Pages indexed in that version |
| Chunks | Content segments in that version |
You can diff a version against the previous one to see exactly what changed: pages added or removed, and the change in chunk count. Detailed diff data is kept for the last 3 versions. Older versions stay listed with their page and chunk totals, so you keep the history; only the itemized comparison ages out.
Tips for better answers
- Keep your site current, then rescrape. The agent only knows what it has read.
- Use always-include facts for the details that must never be missed.
- Pin uncovered topics as custom knowledge if they don't live on a page we can read.
Troubleshooting
The agent gives outdated answers. Rescrape. Your content likely changed since we last read your site.
Page count looks low. We only read publicly accessible pages. Anything behind a login or blocked by robots.txt won't be indexed.
I'm out of manual rescrapes. Wait for the cooldown, use a single-URL refresh for one page, or enable weekly auto-rescrape on Growth.
